How Do I Add LTK to WordPress?

At Southern Creative, we love to work with interior designers to build strategic, SEO-optimized websites–and one of the most common questions we get is how to integrate LTK (formerly known as RewardStyle) with WordPress. So, if you’ve been asking yourself, “How do I add LTK to WordPress?” or how to add rewardStyle plugin to WordPress, you’re in the right place.

Why interior designers should use LTK for shoppable feeds

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of how to add LTK to WordPress, let’s talk about why you’d want to do that in the first place.

Monetize your expertise

People come to your website because they’re looking for design services and inspiration. The cool thing about LTK is that you can earn commissions on the products you’re already recommending and featuring in your design posts and content. (Hello, diversified streams of income! 🎉)

Offer a seamless shopping experience

With LTK, website visitors can shop your style recommendations directly from your blog or portfolio. Easy peasy!

Engage your audience

LTK feeds look good. They’re visually appealing and interactive, which keeps visitors on your site longer (and makes it easy to make some affiliate sales of items you already love and recommend!)

Showcase your style

You can highlight your favorite products, link the look from complete room designs, and even offer alternative products at different price points.

Boost brand partnerships

As a part of the LTK network, you might even attract more brand collaborations.

How to install the LTK widget (a step-by-step guide)

Sounds pretty good, right? Now, let’s get the plugin and widget installed on your website!

Step 1: Set up your LTK account

First things first, you’ll need an LTK account–you’ll have to apply for their website and then wait for approval. To give you a heads-up, they’re looking for people with engaged audiences and quality content. So, if you’re just getting started, this might not be the best fit for you (yet). But if you have an existing Instagram or Pinterest with a decent amount of on-brand content in your niche, you should be able to get approved.

Once you’re approved, you can start creating affiliate links for the products you recommend and organize your recommendations into collections or themes.

Step 2: Choose how you want to incorporate LTK onto your site

There are a few different ways to add LTK to WordPress. Let’s break it down:

Install the rewardStyle widget plugin

If you have a WordPress site, you will need to make sure you’ve installed the latest version of the rewardStyle widget plugin before you can start adding widgets:

  1. Log into your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Click on Plugins > Install New
  3. Search for the rewardStyle widget plugin, then install and activate it.

Now that you’ve installed the plugin, let’s talk about how to add LTK items to your site.

Option 1: Use the LTK widget

The LTK widget lets you display a customized shoppable feed anywhere on your WordPress site. Here’s how to add it:

    1. Log into your LTK account and navigate to Tools > Shop the Post.
    2. Customize your widget (items, layout, etc.) to match your preferences and featured items. Be sure to select WordPress as the platform.
    3. Copy the generated widget code. (Pro tip! By default, RewardStyle gives you a shortcode to display each widget on your site. RewardStyle shortcodes look like this: [show_shopthepost_widget id=”12345678″] However, to display a RewardStyle widget in a custom field, you’ll need to grab the HTML for the widget instead of the shortcode. The HTML can be found in the “Other” tab in LTK.)
  • In WordPress, go to the page or post where you want the widget to appear.
  1. Switch to the HTML editor and paste your widget code.
  2. Save and publish your changes.

Et voila! You’ve just added a shoppable LTK feed to your WordPress site.

Manual LTK links in blog posts

For a more subtle approach, you can manually add LTK affiliate links to specific products in your blog posts:

  1. In your LTK account, generate affiliate links for the products you want to feature.
  2. In your WordPress post, highlight the text you want to link.
  3. Click the “Insert/edit link” button in the WordPress editor.
  4. Paste your LTK affiliate link and save.

Option 3: Create a dedicated “Shop My Style” page

To make it super easy for your visitors to browse all your recommendations, consider creating a dedicated “Shop My Style” page:

  1. Create a new page in WordPress.
  2. Use the LTK widget or plugin to display all your collections on this page.
  3. Add this page to your main navigation menu.

Best practices for using LTK on your interior design site

Now that you know how to add LTK to WordPress, let’s talk about how to use it effectively:

  1. Choose products thoughtfully: Only recommend items that truly align with your design aesthetic.
  2. Update regularly: Keep your LTK feed fresh with new designs and trending products.
  3. Promote on social media: Share your LTK collections on Instagram and Pinterest to drive traffic to your site.
  4. Track performance: Use LTK’s analytics to see which products resonate most with your audience.
  5. Blend with your design: Make sure your LTK widget complements your site’s overall aesthetic.
